Model 5 Chapter Seven

Educators need to know what happens in the world of children with whom they work, they need to know the universe of their dreams, the language with which they skillfully defend themselves from the aggressiveness of their world, what they know independently of the school, and how they know it. I think this is a very important quote to understand because as a future educator it is something I should reflect about. An educator is such a significant career in our society. I feel sometimes teachers get the impression that its an easy or not so challenging job. When, I might be a little biased, but I believe a teacher is is a career that is forever changing, challenging, and a lot of improvisation. I have noticed as I have grown a passion for this career that it is more important than ever to pay attention to what is going on in the world and in political aspects because politics affect the educational systems so much. We have to understand policies and inequalities that are present our institutions. "they need to now the universe of their dreams, the language with which they skillfully defend themselves from the aggressiveness of their world"  this is such a filled sentence, wow how should I even break it down. Teachers need to know the universe of their dream. I think this means that we should understand our personal desires and dreams because those will alter our perspectives on life and it affects the lens we see life through. The language with which they skillfully defend themselves. This means the language we use in order to speak words to people and communicate with the world. I truly believe that actions mean more than words. Words are words but action is a call to a behavior that is felt within us. Actions speak louder than words. The aggressiveness of their world. This is meaning we live in such an aggressive place, when America is a dog eat dog world. The climb is what is important here. It is sometimes sad to me that our society smashes other people in order to make more money. For example, my Dad was just fired from his job because one of his friends betrayed him. They had been close friends for a very long time, even to the point where I actually lived with their family for a few months, but he turned on my Dad and now he does not have a job. That would be an example of this aggressive world we live in. 

Teachers should know about human lives and experiences of humans because essentially, the job we are choosing as our career is that we care for humans so much that we devote our lives to helping them, and yet teachers are still seen as not that important to our society, and we are able to see this because of the salary associated with teachers. It sad, but its the teachers with a lot of heart and compassion that make the job worth it and those are the ones that will have a huge impact on students in America.
